Hacks to Still Stay Fresh in Humid and Warm Weather
We’re a few weeks before fall finally comes in but the weather is still warm and humid. When it’s “sweat weather”, keeping our look fresh is quite a struggle. With no other options, we need to quickly do some necessary switches on our usual skin care and make up routines to stay fab. So, to help you out, we compiled some of the hacks that you can do to keep that fresh look anytime, anywhere
1. Stick with the essentials
We understand we want to keep all our skin care regimen but sadly, too much skin care when it’s hot does exist. And with this, you need to trim down your usual skincare products to the essentials. Keep your products to a minimum especially in the daytime so you won’t overwhelm your pores. Stick with your usual cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, and most importantly, sunscreen.
2. Level up your cleansing regimen.
We all feel extra grimey after a day out in the sun. With sweat and increased sebum production in the equation, we end up with more dirt, oil, and pollution stuck on our skin than the rainy months. You’d want to get rid of all of these at the end of the day, so consider doing a more thorough cleanse at night
3. Use products with a lighter texture.
You can’t go wrong with water-based products, gel textures, light creams, and dry oils for moisturizing and getting your glow on (Anything that your skin can’t absorb in five minutes is an automatic pass)
4. Use waterproof formulas.
Makeup tends to fade faster than usual in hot weather. To make sure your face stays on, switch to longer-lasting formulas.
5. Never (ever) overmattify!
Don’t drown your face in alcohol-based toners that claim to “mattify” and cover your skin in powder until it cracks. Instead, use a more lightweight moisturizer or skip a few non-essential steps in your skincare to fight oiliness
6. Apply SPF products.
Never underestimate the power of sunscreens and sun protect formulas! We’ve told you a couple of times, sunscreen isn’t just for hot weather. The shade won’t protect you. Moreso, you need to double up your sunscreen usage during the dry season. Go for sunscreens that have at least an SPF 30 to protect you from UVB rays, and a PA on the label to make sure it protects you from UVA rays. Don’t forget to apply SPF on your body!
GAIL’S BONUS TIP: Skip coffee and anything with caffeine during hot weathers? Why, because caffeine makes your skin dehydrated. If you can’t totally ditch caffeine, reduce your intake and make sure to drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses a day). Skincare is useless if your skin is dehydrated.
